Linhas de Tensão. Arte, Dança e Ecologia (Book presentation)

Daniel Tércio, professor at the Faculty of Human Kinetics (UL), and Liliana Coutinho, programmer and researcher, work in Dance, Performance, and new technologies. The project Lines of Tension. Art, Dance, and Ecology is based on Timothy Morton’s idea that “all art is ecological.” The book features nine essays on nature, violence, dreaming, indigenous wisdom, and being wild, concluding with an afterword reflecting on the Earth in 2028 and what we can do now.

Daniel Tércio

Studied Philosophy (UL), Fine Arts (FBAL), and Art History (UNL). In 1997, he earned a PhD in Human Motricity with a specialization in Dance from FMH. He is a retired Associate Professor at the University of Lisbon, where he taught courses such as Dance History, Aesthetics, Movement, and Visual Arts. Until 2021, he coordinated the doctoral program in Human Motricity with a focus on dance and served on the board of the Institute of Ethnomusicology – Center for the Study of Music and Dance.

Beyond academic research, Tércio is also a published science fiction writer in Portugal and Brazil. He has led several projects, including TEPe (https://tepe.estudiosdedanca.pt/) and the BDD Terpsicore digital archive (http://weebox.fmh.ulisboa.pt/). He also curates artistic programs, most recently for Silvestre – Festival de Dança e Artes Performativas, a project by Ordem do Ó supported by DGArtes.

Liliana Coutinho

(Lisbon, 1977) is Head of Debates and Conferences Programming at Culturgest – Fundação Caixa Geral de Depósitos and an Integrated Researcher at IHC – NOVA FCSH / IN2PAST. She is a member of the curatorial team for the INDEX / Braga Media Arts Biennials (2022 and 2024). From 2015 to 2017, she served as assistant director and curator of thematic cycles at Teatro Maria Matos, and between 2013 and 2015, she led the Education Service of the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art.

She has served on scientific committees, published articles, and delivered lectures in Portugal and internationally. She holds a PhD in Aesthetics and Art Sciences from the University of Paris. She was a Visiting Professor in the Postgraduate Program in Art Curation at FCSH/UNL and is currently an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Letters, University of Beira Interior.
